The head of state of the United States of America has been a president since 1789. In that year, George Washington, who as a young surveyor laid out this very town of Little Washington, was elected and inaugurated as president. Subsequent inaugurations were held on March 4 until the second inauguration of Franklin Roosevelt on January 20, 1937. Since then Inauguration Day has been held on January 20 and the term of office officially starts at 12 noon on that date. In recognition of this historic day in America—falling this year on Friday, January 20—Tula's Bar will be televising complete inaugural coverage beginning at 10 am (one hour earlier than our normal opening). Come and sip one or more of our inaugural-themed cocktails, including "The Donald", the "Trump Tower" and "The Pence." The swearing-in is just one of the day's activities. Traditionally, presidents start the day with a morning worship service. The oath, normally at noon, is followed by the inaugural address and then a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue from the U.S. Capitol to the White House. That evening, inaugural balls are held throughout the nations capital. See you on Inauguration Day 2017!
